8月30日，中華台北羽毛球大獎賽結束了各單項決賽的爭奪，已退出國家隊的前奧運會冠軍楊維/張潔雯獲得女雙冠軍，男女單冠軍分別被越南選手阮天明和東道主選手鄭韶婕獲得。

率先進行的女子單打決賽，中華台北選手鄭韶婕對陣韓國新銳裴升熙。首局比賽鄭韶婕沒有完全適應韓國小將的打法，以17比21先輸一局。後兩局比賽則都在中華台北名將的掌控中，她以21比12、21比15連扳兩局，摘得台北賽冠軍。

男單決賽在大馬老將黃綜翰和越南選手阮天明之間進行，進來狀態不錯的阮天明完全佔據主動，僅耗時30分鐘就以2比0(21比11，21比14)輕取黃綜翰。阮天明獲男單冠軍。

女子雙打決賽楊維/張潔雯的對手是印尼與美國的跨國組合瑪麗薩/桑托索，後者在昨天的半決賽中2比0淘汰了另一對中國組合高崚/魏軼力。楊維/張潔雯今天狀態不錯，首局比賽21比14獲勝，第二局比賽楊張越打越順，以21比9的大比分獲勝，最終摘得台北賽女雙冠軍。

男雙決賽，陳宏麟、林佑瑯以14比21、21比12、21比19擊敗香港選手魏仁君、王偉康，獲得男雙冠軍。

另外，混雙冠軍被印度組合迪朱/古塔獲得，他們在決賽2比0擊敗了印尼搭檔古納萬/瑪麗薩。

World No 1 Lee Chong Wei, still reeling from his shock quarter-final exit at the World Championships last week, captured the men’s singles title at the Macau Open with a straight games win over compatriot Wong Choong Hann. China, on the other hand, continued their domination, taking three of the five titles at stake.

Malaysia grabbed another title, thanks to an all-Malaysia men’s doubles final which was won by Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong, 21-14, 17-21, 21-12 winners over Choong Tan Fook-Lee Wan Wah.

Both Choong Hann and Choong-Lee have quit the Malaysian national team but still compete regularly on the international scene, thanks to their personal sponsors.

The men’s doubles final was a littered with unforced errors with both pairs guilty of several silly mistakes. However, Koo-Tan, the World No 2, were sharper and took their chances well at the crucial stages to nail the title.

In the men’s singles, Choong Hann put up a strong fight against Chong Wei but the latter’s superior fitness and age advantage proved to be decisive factors. Chong Wei showed great court coverage and his ability to switch from defence into attack mode caught Choong Hann off guard on several occasions. In the end, Chong Wei scored a 21-15, 21-19 win to take home is first Macau Open title. Last year, Chong Wei was beaten by Indonesia’s Taufik Hidayat in the final.

The women’s doubles title went to China’s Du Jing-Yu Yang who beat another Chinese pair of Yang Wei-Zhang Jiewen 21-16, 21-11 in the final.

In another all-China final, Wang Yihan needed almost one hour to stop Jiang Yanjioa 16-21, 22-20, 21-12 to win the women’s singles crown. Both players were a spent force in the third game but Wang Yihan showed more anticipation in the third game to block Jiang’s cross court drops and smashes to move in front. And on several occasions, it was Wang Yihan who used her cross court net shots to leave Jiang rooted to the spot.

In the mixed doubles, the only event to feature players from different countries, China’s He Hanbin-Yu Yang beat the Indonesian pair of Hendra Aprida Gunawan-Vita Marissa in 21-14, 21-9 to win the title.

Aussie’s Huang and Tang outclass India’s Balan and Kurian to win the Women’s Doubles at the 2009 Yonex Australian Open Grand Prix.

Huang and Tang came out of retirement to compete in the Women’s Doubles at the Grand Prix, and gave the young third seeds a lesson in patience and strategy as they combined speed and strength in a skillful and exciting contest.  Huang and Tang’s experience shone throughout the match.  They rose to any challenge from Balan and Kurian with some great defence, turning seemingly unachievable points into thrilling victories.  Cheered on by a partisan crowd, the veteran duo came out on top in two games, bringing home Australia’s only win of the tournament.

Earlier, New Zealand missed out on their first tournament win with Haliday and Tam going down in two games to the number one seeds Wiratama and Chau from Hong Kong China.  In Mixed Doubles final, the New Zealand pair never got into the match and made far too many unforced errors from the start.  Speed and dominance from the back of the court gave Wiratama and Chau the advantage who downed Haliday and Tam in 17 minutes.

The Men’s Singles final was an all Indonesian affair between unseeded Rumbaka andAlamsyah Yunus.  The pair was evenly matched with each player striving to gain an early advantage and it was Rumbaka who edged ahead in the first game with some great winning overheads.  The momentum swung back and forth in both games with each player mixing up play, combining delicate touches at the net with speed and strength from all corners of the court.  Rumbaka’s power overhead gave him the winning edge and saw him take out the match in two closely contested games. 

The top two seeds met in the final of the Women’s Singles but the match was not as closely contested as the seeding suggests.  Top seed Yip from Hong Kong China, struggled to find form throughout the match and made too many unforced errors.  Her movement across court was not as sharp as earlier rounds and her opponent looked fresh in comparison.  Kusumastuti played more consistently and made fewer errors, moving her at times jaded opponent around the court with apparent ease.  Kusumastuti took the first game and despite Yip saving two match points in the second, went on to win the match. 

The Men’s Doubles was a fast moving match between the number one seeds Kumar/Thomas from India and the number two seeds Gan/Tan of Malaysia.  All players displayed speed and agility around the court but it was the power of the Malaysian pair, combined with great reflexes that gave them the advantage.   Kumar/Thomas ran out of answers to Gan/Tan’s smart attacking play which saw them win the match in two easy games.

The finals of the U$50,000 New Zealand Badminton Open world grand prix tournament proved to be a real mixed of seedings taking away the titles.

Women Doubles’ second seeds Anneke Agustine and Anisa Wahyuni(Indonesia) beat their No1 seed opponents, Tsz Ka Chan and Ying Suet Tse from Hong Kong in straight games to take one title for Indonesia while top-15 ranked Yan Kit Chan from Hong Kong won the battle against his countryman, Wing Ki Wong with relative ease. Chan who cruised through the tournament was far too slick for Wong winning 21-9 21-9 in just 28 minutes.

The women’s singles was also straightforward, but this time it was third seeded Sayaka Sato from Japan beating last weeks champion at a tournament the same size in Melbourne,  fourth seed Maria Febe Kusumastuti(Indonesia). The score was 21-10 21-16 in favour of Sato.

The most exciting Men Doubles’ final had top-20 ranked India duo and tournament top seeds Rupesh Kumar Sanave Thomas taking on fourth seeds Hirokatsu Hashimoto and Noriyasu Hirata(Japan). The top seeds won the first game 21-16 but then some acrobatic displays by the Japanese saw them come back and win the second 21-15, however Kumar and Thomas won the final game and the match 21-17 to take the title, much to the delight of their large contingent of fans.

In the mixed final it was the seventh seeds Fran Kurniawan Teng and Pia Zebadiah Bernadet from Indonesia who upset the world No10 combination of Yohan Wiratam and Hoi Wah Chau of Hong Kong in straight games 21-13 21-9.

7月26日，2009年泰國羽毛球黃金大獎賽落下帷幕，中國隊收獲兩金，雅典奧運會冠軍楊維/張潔雯2比1擊敗老對手高崚/魏軼力，奪得女雙冠軍；劉健2比0戰勝王榮後，問鼎女單桂冠。

雖然楊維/張潔雯和高崚/魏軼力都已經退出了國家隊，但是她們的實力依然是世界一流，泰國黃金大獎賽她們便一路過關斬將，成功會師女雙決賽。

第一局楊維/張潔雯開局就處於落後，但在11比17時她們突然發力，連得七分，成功反超；並以20比19率先拿到局點。高崚/魏軼力也是實力不俗，挽救了兩個局點後，連下3分，24比22驚險地先拔頭籌。

第二局楊維/張潔雯提前上演反超好戲，連得6分10比9反超後，就牢牢將主動權控制在手上。雖然高崚/魏軼力幾度反擊，並一度追成17平，但之後楊維/張潔雯利用凌厲的攻勢連得4分，21比17將總分扳平。

第三局楊維/張潔雯的體能優勢顯露，6平之後不斷擴大領先優勢，最終21比15奪得冠軍。

女單方面劉健半決賽2比0擊敗了泰國一姐S-波薩納，其中第二局打了對手一個21比6。而王榮則是苦戰三局，2比1淘汰了另一位泰國選手吉達波爾。

決賽第一局劉健迅速進入比賽狀態，雖然整局五度與王榮戰平，但始終未讓對手領先過一次，並在16平後發力，連得5分，21比16拿下第一局。

第二局劉健乘勝追擊，最多時13比6領先七分。王榮沒有放棄，一分分緊咬，一度追成18平。但劉健的經驗佔了上風，複制第一局好戲連得三分，21比18拿下比賽。

男單決賽爆出一個不大不小的冷門，曾在今年新加坡超級賽爆大冷淘汰李宗偉的越南名將阮天明，輕松地以2比0(21-16/21-13)將泰國一哥波薩納斬落馬下，奪得冠軍。

此外，馬來西亞的陳炳順/林欽華和泰國的松蓬/庫查拉分獲男雙和混雙冠軍。
